Health licensing UAE

Before you can start working in the United Arab Emirates as a healthcare professional, you require a specific healthcare professional license. For the Emirate of Dubai, this license is issued by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). For the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, this license is issued by Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD). The DHA license allows you to work only in Dubai, and the HAAD license allows you to work only in Abu Dhabi. In most cases an exam has to be taken to prove that you are sufficiently trained and experienced to provide healthcare services. Obtaining one of these licenses that allows healthcare professionals to work in the UAE can be a complicated, lengthy and costly process. Fortunately, Herola International is here to help you.

Why choose Herola’s UAE licensing services?

Herola International can help you with your application for the DHA or HAAD license that allows you to work in the Emirate of Dubai or Abu Dhabi respectively. Applying for a license yourself can cause the process to be unnecessarily lengthy and can easily take 6 months or more, or even completely fail if done incorrectly. Herola International has a lot of experience helping healthcare professionals who want to work in the United Arab Emirates obtain their license. We can therefore significantly reduce the amount of time (and costs) required to obtain your license and increase the chances of success. F.A.Q.

Q. How can I apply for Herola’s licensing services?

A. You can apply by sending an email to licensing@herola.nl. We will then contact you on how to proceed.

Q. How does it work?

A. Once you have paid our service fee, Herola will send you a guide on how to prepare your documents. We will also send you a general overview of the entire process. Once you have arranged all required documents you should send them to us digitally. We will then start the Primary Source Verification and apply on your behalf at the Dubai Health Authority or the Health Authority Abu Dhabi. We will then book an exam for you. Once you have passed your exam, you can start applying for jobs in Dubai or Abu Dhabi, depending on the license you chose.

Q. How do I know if I am eligible for a license?

A. You can find out if your eligible for a license by looking at the Professional Qualification Requirements (PQR). In general, you will require the following:

– An educational qualification for your profession as mentioned in the PQR.

– A valid health license that allows you to practice your profession in your home country.

– A certificate of good standing from an authority that regulates your profession in your home country.

– At least 2 years of work experience.

Please note that this is the absolute minimum and it differs from profession to profession. So make sure you check the PQR!

Q. What is the Primary Source Verification you mentioned?

A. Primary Source Verification (PSV) is the process of verifying your documents at the original source. For example, the company performing the PSV will get in contact with your university and previous employers to make sure the documents that you submitted are authentic and are not falsified.

Q. How long will the process take?

A. We aim for the process to take no more than 8-10 weeks. The process involves multiple steps and multiple parties are involved. Primary Source Verification, for example, is done by a third party company. On their website they mention that PSV may take up to 3 months! Luckily, this usually is not the case.

Also, in some cases, either the PSV company or the relevant licensing authority in the UAE may request additional documentation, which can cause a delay in your application.

Q. Will Herola offer me a job after I have obtained my license?

A. Herola frequently has open vacancies. Should you be the best fit for a specific vacancy after you have obtained your license, we can definitely make you a job offer.

Q. Can Herola guarantee that I will be offered a job after I have obtained my license?

A. Herola cannot guarantee you a job after you have obtained your license. We will, upon request, check our network for suitable vacancies for you. No additional fee will be payable by you should we find you a job!

Q. Can I get a refund?

A. Refunds are not available.

Q. If I pay for your services will I be guaranteed to get my license?

A. Even though Herola has a very high success rate, sometimes an applicant can still get declined for any number of reasons. Herola can therefore not 100% guarantee success. However, in most cases, our applicants will get their license.

Q. What happens if I fail my exam?

A. Herola will only pay for your first exam. If you fail your exam you can try it 2 additional times. Should you fail 3 times in total, we have apply at the relevant licensing authority again. Additional fees may then be payable.

Q. Can I only take the exam in the United Arab Emirates?

A. This depends on your profession. Some professions have to take an oral exam. In that case you have to be in the United Arab Emirates. For most other professions there are international testing centers all around the world where you can take your exam.

Q. How can I pay?

A. Our service fee can be paid by bank transfer to our Dutch or UAE bank account. The bank details are specified on the invoice.
